ah, roma.

I am enjoying Rome as I always do. I have already meandered the streets, returning to some of my favorite places and have already had some lovely meals with friends.

I went to an amazing hat shop called Antica Manifattura Cappelli. The owner Patrizia is a professor at one of the fashion schools here. I was truly salivating over all of the fabulous vintage hat blocks and vintage felts that are almost impossible to find in the world. They just don't make things the way they used to. Alas. Most of the millinery supplies these days are manufactured in China. I took a few photos, but check out the website of this beautiful hat shop. They have some lovely pictures of the work that they do. Hats made by hand the traditional way, is truly becoming a lost art form.

  2. Ah, a lovely photo indeed. Italy is one of the few places where purchases are still wrapped as if they are Christmas presents and quality materials are still appreciated. How I long for those days and look forward to reading more about your journeys. Buon viaggio bella!
